Troop 5 visited the United States Military Academy
at West Point to see a football game. This picture was taken on our tour of the Academy.
Scoutmaster Steve Eltringham and Scouts take a meal
break during a community service project. Troop 5 helped out as waiters for the Kearny
UNICO Chapter during their Retarded Citizens Christmas Party.

A quick rest on the trail. This picture is from
Troop 5's hike at Camp Glen Gray. At least one Scout should be admonished for the
"donkey ears" on an Assistant Scoutmaster.
"We have to go left."
"No, we need to go right."
"Which way did we come from?"
"Is this the right map?"
Troop 5 outside the Continental Airlines Arena for
a recent Devils' Scout night. For the sake of hockey fans all over New Jersey, we may have
to stop going to these if they don't win a game we go to soon.
Service Project!
Troop 5 helped
out with the Passaic River waterfront cleanup project. Here are some Scouts getting
instructions. On the left is Kearny Town Council Member Carol Jean Doyle.
There was plenty of work to do on the riverfront
that day.
Scouts don't seem to mind the work too much. The
Kearny Fire Department even showed up later and everyone got to use the hose from the fire
engine.
All Done! We filled the dumpster with the debris
along the river. Troop 5 makes up most of the volunteers who helped out that day. Three
Troop Committee members even made it into this shot - Mr. Miller, Mr. Alvarez, and Mr.
Kelly. And we even got these great t-shirts given to us by the Passaic Valley Sewerage
Authority.
