Meeting the Needs of Today's Youth

Scouts Do...
Home Up Scouting is... Scouts Do... Who Are We?

Can you climb a mountain? Do you know how to save a life? Can you survive in the wilderness? Have you ever lived in a igloo for a weekend? Do you know how to build a bridge out of a few trees and some rope?

Scouts Do!

Scouts do all these things and more! Scouts get away from it all! They camp, hike and fish in the great outdoors. They get together in crews, and troops, and packs, and they try out new experiences.

Weekend camping trips. Whitewater canoeing. Hiking expeditions. Wilderness survival. Week long camping at summer camps and high adventure bases. The possibilities are limitless.

Not only that, but in a crew or troop, the youth do all the planning and run these adventures. Sure, there's guidance from the adult leaders, but when it comes to getting the job done, Scouts Do!

Get out into the woods - Scouting is designed to take place outdoors. It is in the outdoor setting that Scouts share responsibilities and learn to live with one another. It is here that the skills and activities learned and practiced at meetings come alive with purpose. Being close to nature helps Scouts gain an appreciation for God's handiwork and humankind's place in it. The outdoors is the laboratory for Scouts to learn ecology up close and personal and practice conservation of nature's resources.

Learn and do things that most people don't. Join a Scout unit in your neighborhood, and be a part of the adventure. Scouting is available to boys from First Grade through 17 years old, and Venturing is open to young men and women from first year of high school through age 20. There is a unit near you. Don't just watch - Do!
