My Scouting History

I've been involved in the Boy Scouts of America since 1954 when I joined Cub Pack 75 at the age of eight.  I stayed involved in the program until I entered college.  At that time, I became a member of Alpha Phi Omega, the National Service Fraternity which was founded by former Scouts and based on Scouting principles.

In 1980, I was drafted onto the Executive Board of the Hudson Hamilton Council of the Boy Scouts of America and have served Scouting in various capacities ever since.

By looking over my Scouting Awards, Positions, and Experiences, you can get a better idea of where I've been and what I've done.  It's been a long and wonderful trip and it appears to be far from over.  I have a son who is approaching thirty who is an Eagle Scout and currently serves as Assistant Scoutmaster for the troop in which my younger son is the Patrol leader of the new scout patrol.  We all enjoy getting out on the numerous trips the troop takes whether it's camping, hiking, or going to a hockey or football game.

I still have some things I'd like to do, like participating in a World Jamboree and taking a group of Scouts to the Florida Seabase, but only time will tell.  Meanwhile, I just keep doing whatever Scouting job that comes along and needs doing.  I hope some of you will do the same.

Yours in Scouting,

Jim
