I followed your link from rec.scouting.usa, where I was reading the words to "It was sad..." Nice job on the home page. I generally like to check out other Scouters work. I'm getting ready to do my own, once I finish up with my company's home page. I will be taking Wood Badge this fall (NE-IV-80) down here at Roosevelt Scout Reservation in the Southern New Jersey Council. I'm presently Scoutmaster of Troop 74 in Woodbury, NJ - Gloucester District. My son Tim made it to the National Jamboree in 1993, spent some time working on a farm in Ireland with our neighbor's relatives the next summer and made Eagle in 1995.

Enjoyed reading your page(s)- I too am an Eagle Scout (1965), and am just now working as an Explorer Post Committee Chairman, trying to help the Post at our church get it together. They started (1 year) as High Adventure, but through a variety of ills they never really got going. We are now re-forming as a "general interest" Post- outdoor- career- general topics. We plan to run three of each group, one month long, this year. Last year, went on a small canoe/camping trip, big success, so they want a week-long one this year (summer- 97). I think the E program has great possibilities. I was also a Scoutmaster (3 yrs.) and re-formed Troop 68, which now has 50 or so Scouts, including my 14 year old. My 18 year old dropped w/4 MBs and a Project for Eagle- ugh, but he made his choice. I don't know if the younger one will stick or not. Enough of me. Thanks for the Explorer Training info- I'm running a Leadership Seminar this weekend.PS- also play guitar- Stratocaster. See ya.

I agree 100%. I grew up as an explorer and have been everything post member, post president, EA, CC, AA, COR. I attended 1960 Jambo as an Explorer. I have organized speicalty posts, Indian Lore (Post 76, ETAC), Forensic Science, High Adventure, Church Community Outreach, EMS, etc. in TExas and now in Richmond, VA. I was at Philmont Explorer Conf, 1997 with John Wolfgang who you probably know.

I have organized 3 explorer posts at our church, Woodlake United Methodist Church. I am looking for a way to hook up with other Explorer Posts on a regional basis, any ideas?

I like your site, let's talk.

You"ve hoested your colors smartly, and presented a brisk broadside of information and questions that rate a proper signal in response. Even John Paul Jones had to air beding regularly, check the bilges' continuely, and refitt his ship as needed to keep it, and her crew, ready for what- ever mission need be fulfilled. All scuttlebutt aside! I'm pleased to have found your website, and will be checking it out agian vary soon. Till then, smooth sailing and safe ancorages be yours. T.G.Beikler (in my own snug harbor)

Some of your links are not working but that's OK. I was trying to determine where you live. I am searching for photos and/or articles about the 'amazing flotillas' I was a part of back in the 60's as an Explorer in Wilson, NC. The flotillas consisted of dozens of Explorer posts on home made barges/rafts which traveled down the rivers of NC to the outer banks. I was a part of two of those excursions put unfortunately have no photos or printed material about it. Maybe someone visiting your website will contact me with some info. Good web site. Thanks.

I am the Captain/commander of a military Explorer post sponsored by the Wisconsin Army National Guard. Here in Wisconsin there are about 20 such units. We are all members of the 1st Wisconsin Group. Our commander is appointed by the Wisconsin Army National Guard. He and his youth staff put together state wide military trainings and Cooperate Field Training Exercises at Fort McCoy (Wisconsin Army National Guard military base).

I wish there was some way to get the word out to other interested adults about this very special program we have in our state. This program(1st Wisconsin Group) combines many units from many councils and reachs out beyound state lines.

This program brings together over 200 youth who have the same interests. They train together and then meet once a year for a little friendly competition. Kind of a camporee but run state wide.

It would be very nice if there was a way I could communicate across the country to find out if other such military groups would like to join us.

I was a member of Sea Explorers from age 14 to 20. Our Ship was out of Harahan, Louisiana. We traveled to the Bahamas from New Orleans for 3 weeks two summers. The boat was the M.V. Ashepoo. We also sailed quite a bit. What a great learning experience as well as fun... I also joined a post in New Orleans at age 17 and had the privilege to go to Philmont. We were very active in our council. At age 16 I was the Council Presidents Association Secretary and at 17 I was the President of the E.P.A. I also attended 4 Presidents Association Congresses. Two in Washington D.C., one in Pheonix, and one in Indianapolis. I have made many life long friends. I would like to start a high adventure post. I have teenage daughters now and reside in Columbus Ohio. The local council has not returned my calls. Any help would be appreciated.

Jim, I am looking for information on starting an Explorers post in our health system. I was a Boy Scout and I spent a good chunk of the summer of '76 in Philmont on a high adventure. I was in an explorers post that was medically oriented in Delaware when I was in high school. This is what inspired me to become an EMT then Paramedic and now I am an RN in the ER in a rural hospital in Northern CA. I put this idea out recently for sparking interest in our youth towards career goals and it was met with enthusiasm. I have looked all over the net and you are who I found, Any advice to where to look or call? I would appreciate any information you may have. I used to belong to an explorer post in Tucker, GA, headed up by a US Army, Vietnam Veteran. As a teen my work and school interfered so I didn't go very far and I regret it. As you said and as I remember it, this program is/was great. Now I'm volunteering with the cub scouts on Quantico Marine Corps Base as an assistant to anyone and as a role model for the little people. The Marine Corps' motto is Semper Fidelis (Always Faithful), something I live by and thought I'd share. Semper Fi! Daniel Cole/SGT/USMC/HMX-1

Any advise on how I could look up that old post? I think it was Post 71, Tucker, GA 30084 but it has been a while. I'd like to make contact and maybe find an old sticker or patch or something. Thank you for your time. coledh@hmx-1.usmc.mil (703) 784-4255

NOFX!! you probably never heard of them but they are the best. I saw them the Mad Caddies, Frenzal Rhomb (or something like that), and Inspection 12 which is a local band from Jacksonville. James, I saw Flogging Molly on Friday and They were GREAT! The lead singer is 45 or 50 yrs old but they were the best band at the whole concert. The lead singer is actually IRISH. They were throwing Guuiness into the crowd. They put on a great live show and you should go see them.
