Towadena Hall

Until 1975 dining at RHSR consisted of gathering in a large
tent located in the center of camp, and having food brought from
heater stacks in the Camp Commissary (now the Quartermaster).

In 1975, on the former location of Maxwell camp site, Towadena
Hall was constructed. It was named for Camp Towadena - the summer
camp of the former Alexander Hamilton Council. A modern
commercial kitchen provides food preparation for a large dining
room capable of seating over 300 Scouts and Scouters.
Inside Towadena Hall are plaques,
banners, and flags commemorating years gone by. Troops and Posts
have left plaques to mark their Summer Camp attendance. Council
Jamboree Troop Flags hang from the rafters. OA Section Conclave
signs are displayed in various corners. Even the 1983 National
Order of the Arrow Conference Sign hangs in Towadena Hall (you
can see it in this picture). Scouts have been known to spend
hours learning the history of their Troops, Lodges, and their
Camp through these walls and rafters.
Towadena Hall also serves as a central gathering point for
campers for special events or weather related alternative
programs.
Towadena Hall is available for limited use outside of Summer
Camp, and use of the kitchen is limited to authorized people.
