The Friends of Hudson Liberty Council, Inc. was formed in 1997 for the purpose of supporting the programs of the Boy Scouts of America as delivered by the Hudson Liberty Council, BSA in Hudson County, NJ.
Our first big event was the First Annual Cigar Night for Scouting held on Monday, December 5, 1997. The event was held at Pronto Cena Restaurant in Jersey City and was considered an amazing success by all who attended. Attendees included Jersey City Mayor Brett Schundler. With the help of our sponsors and supporters, we raised $5,350.00 in support of Scouting. Council President Bob Marks immediately dedicated these funds to go to support the Council's long-term summer camping program at Rock Hill Scout Reservation.
We now have details on the Second Annual Cigar Night for Scouting. It is scheduled for Monday, October 5, 1998. We had to change the date due to a conflict with another big event in Jersey City. Tickets will be $200.00 and attendance will be limited. Our goal for this second event is to raise $10,000.00 to help support Scouting in Hudson County. Sponsors are lining up and seating is limited. Be sure to get your tickets early!
